About the ECERS-R

Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale-Revised

The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale Revised (ECERS-R) is used to conduct assessments in classrooms with children ages 31 months through 5 years. The ECERS-R provides an overview of various aspects of the early childhood environment that are known to lead to positive outcomes for young children regardless of program type.

Information for NC Pre-K Classrooms

The NC Pre-K Program is designed to provide high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for eligible preschool children. All NC Pre-K licensed programs in public schools and private childcare facilities will have an assessment completed every three years using the ECERS-R assessment tool as a part of the rated license reassessment process.
